Swinging Wheels are a Dutch-developed stabilising wheel system that attaches to some standard e-bikes to provide adjustable side support while slowing and stopping during a ride. Unlike fixed training wheels, they are designed with a “swinging” motion that allows the bike to behave more naturally while still preventing full loss of balance at low speeds, stops, and starts. This makes them especially useful for riders who want added confidence without moving to a full tricycle.

The system typically includes two support wheels mounted on adjustable arms that can be set slightly off the ground or fully engaged depending on the rider’s needs. When set higher, they act as emergency stabilisers that only touch down when balance is lost; when set lower, they provide closer but not true continuous support similar to a trike. This flexibility allows riders to transition gradually toward more independent cycling if desired.

Swinging Wheels are commonly used for older riders, rehabilitation, balance support, or anyone who still wants to use their existing bike but needs extra security. Because they mount to the rear axle and frame, they can be fitted to many standard bicycles and e-bikes, with configuration depending on wheel size and frame geometry. Please note they are not compatible with all models although we can offer consultancy to advise on suitability/compatibility (fees apply).
