SmartBrake is a wireless electronic bicycle braking system developed to help riders who may struggle with conventional brake operation or who require caregiver-assisted braking. Designed for adaptive bikes, trikes, rehabilitation cycles, and special-needs cycling applications, the system uses an electronically controlled hydraulic brake that can be activated wirelessly through a remote controller, companion control, or specialised brake interface. It is specifically engineered to support riders with cognitive, neurological, or physical challenges while maintaining a natural cycling experience.
Unlike traditional bicycle brakes, SmartBrake can be configured in several ways depending on rider needs. The Wireless version assists riders with limited grip strength, the Hybrid version allows both rider braking and caregiver-controlled remote braking, and the Switch version is designed for riders who may experience seizures or loss of control, automatically activating the brake when required. A built-in fail-safe system automatically applies braking if communication is lost or battery levels become critically low, adding an extra layer of safety.
The system is supplied as a complete hydraulic brake kit and can be configured for many bicycle, tricycle, and adaptive cycle setups. SmartBrake can be fitted with hydraulic disc or rim brake systems and includes rechargeable electronics, wireless controls, and custom hose lengths to suit individual installations.
